FRANCE: The 14th of July

14th of July is the National Day of the French Republic. It is a public holiday in France.

It was instituted by the law of 6 July 1880:
“The Republic adopts the 14th of July as a day of annual national day to commemorate the take of the Bastille of July 14, 1789, symbol of the end of the absolute monarchy, as well as the party of the federation From 1790, symbol of the union of the nation.”
