Happy ‘Little March’!

Celebrated on March 1st, Mărțișor marks the beginning of spring. Boys usually offer girls mărțișoare, charms tied with a red and white thread, as a sign of friendship. Related to Mărțișor and also a symbol for spring in Romania is the snowdrop flower. Mărțișor means ‘Little March’ in Romanian.
